Just when you think you know everything there is to know about the Harry Potter series, something comes to your attention that truly blows your mind grapes. This one might be one of those facts. OK, so you know Mad-Eye Moody (pictured above)? The eyepatch-wearing wizard is played by Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, who of course has appeared in countless other films, like 28 Days Later . . . and Gangs of New York. He's also the father of two actors, and one of them is Domhnall Gleeson, who's part of the Star Wars franchise as General Hux and will star in the upcoming HBO series Run. He also had one of his earlier roles in the Harry Potter franchise as Bill Weasley, in both Deathly Hallows movies (pictured below).

GLEESON: These kind of movies are increasingly difficult to get up there and get out there and really was Martin's success last year with all of that kind of thing. But we're trundling into, what I'm saying is, we're trundling into a place where it's going to be almost impossible to get these films made in the way that we got them made. This was really cinematic, deliberately cinematic, deliberately epically cinematic. And then the story was on apparently small lines, so we could get into these characters that were intimate and reduced in a way. And the whole thing was done in such a cinematic way that it's for our cinemas. It's for cinemas. And to be able to get those, we were blessed, we got it done.

Taking our top spot of the best Brendan Gleeson movies of all time is In Bruges. Starring alongside Colin Farrell and Ralph Fiennes, In Bruges sees Gleeson give one of the best performances of his career.
This was Brendan Gleeson's first time hosting "Saturday Night Live," and though he's starred in comedic movies, he's not an actor who is necessarily known for being funny. However, this episode of "SNL" made me wish that he would star in more straight-up comedies. While movies like "Paddington" and "In Bruges" have showcased Gleeson's comedic talents, "SNL" easily offered the best spotlight for his ability to be funny. In fact, he was having fun before the episode even aired:
Born in Dublin, Brendan Gleeson started performing as a child in local stage productions. While furthering his studies at University College, he underwent an audition for the National Theatre of Ireland, Abbey Theatre, that was a complete disaster. He put aside his dreams of acting professionally and instead, went on to become a high school teacher. In 1989, after ten years of teaching, he decided to give acting another try. In a strange twist of fate, the first role he landed was in a stage production at the Abbey Theatre. Not long after, he made his feature film debut playing a small role in The Field (1990) starring Richard Harris. A variety of work in both feature films and TV movies followed, and in 1994, he landed a regular role in the television series Lifeboat.
Because we as a culture can mistakenly equate beauty with shallowness, it's taken time for some to realize what a great actor Colin Farrell is. He's always been a charismatic screen presence, though in recent years he's revealed striking new emotional depths as a leading man in movies like The Lobster and this year's After Yang. He's also proved willing to bury his good looks under mounds of prosthetics as the villainous Penguin in The Batman.
It's worth noting that even though Gleeson's appearance is tied to his upcoming release, there are plenty of fan-favorite roles that Gleeson has played in the past that could be used as a starting point for sketches in his upcoming episode. Perhaps best known for playing "Mad-Eye" Moody in the Harry Potter movies, a riff on the Wizarding World seems very likely. Another recent hit that featured Gleeson and which could pop up is his role from Paddington 2, but perhaps the biggest is his Golden Globe-nominated performance as Donald Trump in The Comey Rule. 2ff7e9595c
